- Summary:
- I m a researcher in the IUT de Montreuil, located near Paris, who is working on simplified cognitive models of human mechanisms for the purposes of animating virtual humans and game characters. I m particularly interested in modelling perception, attention, memory and gaze. My models are inspired by research from psychology, cognitive engineering and robotics. My primary research interest is the modelling of visual attention for, among other things, automatically directing an agent s gaze towards locations of importance, relevance or interest in a virtual environment.
I m also interested in animating gaze and related blinking behaviours, as well as implementing synthetic gaze perception and theory of mind capabilities for conversation initiation behaviours between multiple agents in a virtual environment.
All of this work uses the Torque engine for display. Although I bought an Indy license privately for Torque (I love games and hope one day to actually finish one ! ;-) ), GG very kindly has given me a license for my academic work. I m currently working on an interesting demo that should nicely showcase most of my work in this area, so stay tuned !
