Front gates
Main tower view
Hoping no one shoots me through the wall of the cell
The backsideAll that remains for *this* base is the dragon-head turret outside the main gate and adding the door-manipulation scripts. Also, the portcullis-y thing. But none of those are interiors, so it should go a bit faster. Also, I now have a fairly significant pile of prefabs for constructing lego-ish things in Constructor, which should make the other base go a little faster. Also, I finished all the terraforming and skyscaping today, though unfortunately I've pretty much had to give up on my original forested idea because of the issues I've been having with shape replicators and waterblocks.
Somewhat relatedly, this feels like an abuse of what interiors were designed for (it drags the framerate down into the 40s when I'm playing in windowed mode on my 9400m instead of the 9600m. Fortunately the rest of the game isn't so visually complex enough for me to be too worried. If nothing else, I'll mention that players with older computers might want to avoid this map. If anyone has any ideas for optimizing the model, I'd love to hear them, but obviously (from the screenshots) this particular interior isn't great for trying to zone.
There are lots of other things happening in the background as I'm trying to finish my beta before the end of the semester, but until the other things are done, this is the most interesting to post about. Unfortunately my modeling time is limited by academic matters, but I'm cramming in as much as I can to try and finish this and a couple other maps that will demonstrate the full feature-set of FreeBuild. Turrets, zero-g navigation for space maps, an extensible Game-mode interface (both for programmers/modders and userside), all the good stuff.
