Plan for Jeremy Bamber

I've been concocting some ideas recently. Under advise from some of the guys here I'm trying my hand at other disciplines. Namely game designing and 3d artist. The latter I haven't had much luck in yet but I do have some half-formed game ideas.

Tyr
Fantasy game. You play a mercenary/thief/assassin.

Story: When abandoned at birth you were taken in by the guild of shadows. The guild operates out of a fortress high in the mountains. Their trade is murder. After years of hard training the guild has finally accepted you as a full member...

I'll do a plot and add a lot to this when I've more time

gameplay: You start with a little character design where you decide things like your appearance and wether you lean more towards close combat or projectile weapons. What skills you choose here won't be too important as you will be able to improve your character later.

In between missions you can wander around the fortress, or whatever town the plot takes you to later, and you can engage in various activities. These include buying new equipment, forging your own equipment, competing in different events for money and other prizes, training, and other things. Possibly even relationships.

Standard missions will be available on some kind of message board thing. More important, and lucrative, missions will be offered to the player by people you meet in taverns or elsewhere. As you gain a reputation, such as a good combat record and success in competitions, you will be approach for missions of increasingly delicate nature.

missions will fall into three basic forms:
Theft - Self explanatory. an example would be to infiltrate a rich merchants house and retrieve an artifact of particular importance. These missions will usually be low pay and pretty easy. These require plenty of stealth. just killing everyone here is a good way to get the city guard on your tail.

Assassination - Kill a single individual or a group of people. These missions are higher risk and therefore higher pay. Again stealth is needed but less important. A fast kill and a faster escape is what matters.

Blade for hire - A pretty broad field. anything from bodyguard work to taking part in a huge battle. Pay and risk will accord to the kind of work you do.

The plot will be multi-threaded with several different endings depending on the way you play. Plot advancement will be down to the random/planned encounters which result in missions.

I'll elaborate more on this game when I have more order to my ideas

Other ideas:

Damned - You've been wrongly accused of murder and dragged to the chair. Now another injustice has been done, you've been cast down into the fiery depths. Do you have the guts, the wits, and most importantly, enough Holy shotgun of righteousness ammo to take on all of hell and right these great wrongs? (FPS or other shooter variant)

The big cliche - It all started when the broad, who subsequently stabs you in the back, walked into your office. You knew she was trouble... (Film noir type adventure)

---Update---
I just went away and saw a forum post on the fact that way too many people are thinking about making MMORPGs. Brad Reiss (who made the post) is of course totaly right and whilst I have no contemplation of making Tyr an online game, I should try to think of something other than the fantasy setting.
From now on I'll be concentrating more on the other two ideas above. They were just things I thought of at 1am this morning however the ideas are begining to grow on me.
