Plan for J. Donavan Stanley

As some may have noticed I've been absent from the GG scene lately. I wanted everyone to know that I'm not gone for good I'm simply trying to rectify some of the harm I've done by being a workoholic.
Until a couple weeks ago, a typical day for me went something like this:
5:00 AM - Wake up and shower
5:30 AM - Research, visit development forums.
6:30 AM - Leave for work to write code all day long.
4:00 PM - Return home from work
4:05 PM - Write more code, do more research and visit more dev forums.
12:00 AM - Go to bed.
A schedual like that is all well and good, if you're a 20 year old single guy. If you're 33 years old with a wife and a kid that's a recipe for disaster.
So I'm taking some time and forcing myself NOT to work except at WORK. Instead I'm taking care of myself, my home and spending time with my family.
I've got to say. I'm probably the luckiest guy on Earth. Not only did my wife put up with what I was doing, she understood WHY I was doing and supported me. I'm just glad I realized what a total ass I had become before she got sick of it.

Seems like the game industry really promotes work to the exclusion of all else... it's encouraging to see someone maintaining a normal life and still making a difference.

Heh that sounds exactly like my schedule. But hey, I'm a 20 year old guy so what do I care. :)
