Plan for Adam Beaumont

We hit our Jan 16th release deadline so the last week or so has seen some great feedback from the testers. As is always the case, getting people playing your game is a great way of figuring out where the holes are. Not only have we found and fixed some annoying bugs (your score appearing on someone elses machine was probably the best) but there have also been a load of suggestions as to how we can improve.

I've set the next milestone to be Feb 20th - thats five weeks on from milestone #1 but I'm aiming to get alot more of the graphical content in game by then so I think the extra week is justified. The idea behind milestone #2 is to get the first gametype feature complete, with functioning AI and enough graphical content to enable us to get some movie and screenshots done.

When I say feature complete I don't expect that to be the final version of the first gametype as I'm sure that things will evolve as we get more playtesting done - the focus is to have something ready for the next round of testing that users feel is functioning like a real game.

I'm really keen to get a dev snapshot up on the site but for the moment thats on hold until we get some of the HUD graphics reworked. At the moment it's all placeholder - I've found someone to develop a HUD look n feel but I think its going to take a couple of weeks for it to come through.

I'm seriously considering getting hold of a Mac to develop and test on - experience from the UT2003 mod I work on seems to indicate that the mac community are always looking for new games and are a pretty enthusiastic bunch - I've had a look on ebay and it seems possible to pick something up fairly cheaply - maybe when the MSU prize money comes through I can get something sorted out.
