Plan for J. Donavan Stanley

I'd like to apologize to the community for leaving so abruptly. I had to take care of things in my personal life, and I had to step away from things that were consuming mass quantities of time. Things are much better now, and I've got my ducks in a row.
I've been heavily involved in the MythTV project since the begining of the year or so. After a few months of my submitting patches every couple of days, I was asked to join the team. I'm currently one of 13 or so core team members with commit rights to the CVS tree and we have a user base in the thousands.
My work with MythTV has gotten me interested in game development again. Not MMOs, or complex FPS games but small simple games. Games that can be played using nothing but a remote control pointed at a TV set. Games like Tux Racer for example.
I'd also like to explore a "games on demand" system for HTPCs. Something that would allow a user to browse catagories, hit select on their remote and be playing a demo a few minutes later.
I don't know how much time I'll have to devote as I work 10 hour days, but I plan on doing some experimenting soon.

I'm glad you were able to get things straightened out.
MythTV looks interesting. I guess the games would be tied in with it? I think I played something like TuxRacer on a game that came on a movie DVD. The controls weren't very responsive, but I don't know if that's the remote's inadequicies or just not much time put into creating the game.
Anyway, glad you wandered back around. :)

MythTV rocks - I've been using it' off and on for a while now. I don't think there's anything out there that competes with it (and considering it's free... :-)

Your additions to MythTV have been well received here at least... and although I don't contribute to the chatter on the MythTV threads... I do read them now and then.
