Tank Content Pack

by Joe Maruschak · 11/15/2004 (8:04 pm) · 8 comments

Just finished with the Tank Content Pack and submitted the package to GarageGames for upload. This tank pack will be our first combination art/code pack. It has some neat extras that have not been done before. Multi wheeled treaded vehicles with deformabletreads. We also have a secondary alternate weapon (right click) and with the Sherman, a set of dual machine guns mounted to the front and firing together.

This pack will have a Max, Maya and Lightwave version. We tried like hell to get a milkshape version working, but without an overhaul of the exporter, it was just not going to happen without delaying release for a few more weeks. We figured we would get this out the door and then address the milkshape version at a later time.

Next up on the plate is finishing up the final translation of the majority of our other Content packs to other formats with exporters for the Torque.

We have been working with James Upquart of Blender Exporter fame, Dave Wyand, creator of the Looking Glass and lightwave exporters, and Matt Summers from Dark Industries on these conversions. In addition to updating most of our older packs to work in multiple formats, we will also be bundling all of our first wave of content packs into a new bundle, so you can get all the content for a super low price, considering the amount of content included.

after these packs are done, I will finally feel like I can get out of the fog of half done projects and start focusing again on getting our next couple of games finished.. ok, gotta get the nose back to the grindstone.

Nice. I need to pay the pesky doctors from my trip to the ER, but I'm definitely looking at picking up this and the RTS pack in the (hopefully...or as hopeful as I can be with impending bills) near future. I'm really interested to see the deformable treads!

Exactly what I need! I have a bunch of finished tank meshes, but can't quite figure out the animating the treads part. I will have to wait until the Milkshape or Gamespace version comes out. :(

@willbkool

we are not going to release a milkshape version. Maybe when milkshape becomes robust enough to support the shape we will readdress the issue.

Looks great Joe. Too bad about milkshape. Maybe someday.
