Plan for Jared Coliadis

Does anyone know anything about the BIG C indie game competition for college students? Is it well known in the indie scene? Anynody have any idea what kind of reputation it has? I'm asking this because my last .plan discussed how my whole dev team is comprised of college students looking to get into the game industry eventually. I could probably be feature complete by mid September, but definately not code complete. It's possible that I could get a demo working by then, but I don't want to put on such a time constraint if this isn't even really that respectable of a competition.
I looked at a few of last year's winners, and they do seem to be (mostly) polished and of near-professional quality. If our team was to go through with this, it does seem like it would be a pretty effective way to get some public attention.
If I could get some response to the reputation of the competition, it would be greatly appreciated.

You are right, though. We would have to work very strenuously to get anything resembling a final product working. It's a nice idea, but it would probably be good to hold off until later...and now I see on IGF's webpage about a student showcase with a submission date not due until November.
Well, I think that is slightly more reasonable of a date to shoot for, and I know of IGF's strong reputation. If our team decides to go to a festival, I think IGF would be much more of a reasonable and respectable place to do it.

Yeah, the inclusion of Alien Hominid confused me as well, but I think that this year is a student competition and last year was not. I could be wrong there. You are right, though. For sure though the big one is the Indie Game Festival, as it's dedicated to games, not films with game inclusion as an afterthought.
It sounds like your project is just getting started and that being the case best of luck getting it done in 75 days in time for the entry! Even with a small game and experienced team it would take a lot of dedication to do an entry-worthy game in that time period.
