As an example: I generated the Humvee Jeep for the CombatStarterKit. I built it to known vehicle specs[American General] and animated it as such...spring length, etc... I tuned it via it's script to get it working correctly. Then, Direction was given to increase the size of the object....by an export Scale Factor. After doing this scaling, the vehicle scripting and the animations no longer were in sync and visually the components were not animating as I'd created...
I had to go back and rework the vehicle's script to match the new Scaled values of the vehicle....why I dislike using a Scale Factor to make up for poorly scaled art....cutting a corner here, produces work over there....
I use a Torque native scale inside Ms3D...which is very small....characters are just over 2 UNITS tall.....but it negates any Scale Factor with the export and I've not had any real issues with the UI camera. When I need to zoom quickly in an Ortho viewport, I use the caption box to input values to zoom quickly in on a element of the Scene.
Good luck!

I have found that scaling is tricky; especially vehicles,as they're a combination of art and scripting. As an example: I generated the Humvee Jeep for the CombatStarterKit.
