Useless powerup

I think that the most useless powerup is the super shot. Rarely do u ever need for a shot to go twice as far as it normally would. It does work sometimes to try and get a faraway purple or red or if u want to shoot yourself off the map
:-) (Sometimes thats quite fun!!) Oh yea and by the way, for the next version of orbz is there gonna be more powerups and new orbs? I dont know what kind of other powerups there would be

I'd suggest a magnetising powerup which makes your orb magnetic to all the targets for 20 seconds. That would be super cool!

Maybe a homing powerup that zooms your orb to the closest target and hits it.

There are some ideas on the table for more powerups in the next version. Both of those you guys suggested are on there.

There will be new orbs in the next version and we are working through the technical issues with creating and sharing your own (without replacing existing ones).

We will also be evaluating the current powerups and determining if there are innovative ways to create levels where we use those. The Super Shot is terrific on some levels, especially Icy Manipulator and Glacial Chasm. It allows you to get from one end of the map to the other very quickly.

Ahh yes the supershot works good on glacial chasm but on other levels like frickin freezin and starlight and all the easy courses, theres no real point cuz all the stars are close together. However, on moonbase and places like pillar run where all the stars are far apart, that works the best.

Hey, how about a super curse of the goober for a new powerup, it will put so much weight on a player, that they could hard move 2 feet!!! and of course these would have to pop up on the course very rarely, for this might be a very powerful power-up. i also thought about a powerup that lets you stay afloat in the air for a certain amount of time. it would be called, the air time power-up. this is how it could work. first activate the power-up, then shoot urself in the air, click again, and ur orb will stay afloat. then u can have a clear shot at targets u couldn't see before while u were on the ground. this power-up could last a good 30 second. well, tell me what you all think.

Hmm..... a super goober? Sounds like a useful and deadly powerup (the regular goober is enough trouble!) air-time powerup sounds interesting using that at certain times would allow for easy acces to other stars.

I know what would be cool. In the last 10 seconds of the game, there could be the timewarp powerup. if someone grabs it and uses it, the time goes back to the middle of the game and everyones score goes back to the way it was in the middle of the game. That would allow some ppl to catch up if they were losing and could possibly change the person who wins the game. Or maybe a ghost powerup that would allow you to shoot thorugh the platforms at stars. Although, there would be the problem of someone getting stuck in the wall. Maybe a powerup that eats away at ur opponents score 100 points at a time everytime they take a shot. This powerup could be in effect for 15 seconds. Could be called the score muncher. :-)

I LIKE THOSE IDEAS, VERY INTERESTING. MAYBE THERE COULD BE A POWER-UP CALLED REFLECTOR. WHENEVER AN OPPENENT USES A NEGATIVE POWER-UP, YOU ACTIVATE THE REFLECTOR POWER-UP AND THEN THE EFFECT REFELCTS BACK TO THE PLAYER WHO USED IT ONLY, NOT AFFECTING THE OTHER PLAYERS!! THAT WOULD BE EXTREMELY HELPFUL AND COOL. ANOTHER IDEA COOL IDEA WOULD BE A POWER-UP CALLED "FOG OF TERROR"!!! THIS POWER-UP COULD SURROUND THE OPPOSING PLAYERS WITH FOG FOR 15 SECONDS. THIS FOG WOULD MAKE IT HARD FOR THEM TO SEE THE STARS THAT ARE IN FROM OF THEM, AND ESPECIALLY AFFECT THEIR SHOTS TO FARTHER AWAY STARS. THIS COULD BE VERY COOL, AND POWERFUL. THIS IS MY LAST IDEA. HOW ABOUT A POWER-UP CALLED REVERSE POWER-UP??? THIS POWER-UP COULD TRICK THE OPPONENT STRONGLY. WHAT IT WOULD DO IS THIS. ACTIVATE THE REVERSE POWER-UP, THEN WHEN AN OPPONENT IS SHOOTING VERY FAR, THEY REALLY ARE SHOOTING CLOSER. WHEN YOU SHOT, YOU TRY TO CLICK WHEN THE BAR IS AT RED, BUT WITH THIS POWER-UP, WHEN YOU CLICK AT RED, IT GOES VERY LITTLE. THEN WHEN YOU CLICK TO THE FARTHEST RIGHT, THE GREEN, IT GOES FARTHER. SO THE DISTANCE THAT AN ORB CAN TRAVEL ARE REVERSED. THIS COULD LAST FOR 15 SECONDS. WELL, WHAT DO YOU ALL THINK?

Fog wouldnt be that bad :-) the reflector would be awesome the reverse is interesting youd have to click very fast to get full power unless u have amouse like mine that has a button that automatically clicks twice with 1 press of the button

It is easy to see the creative energy developing in the previous posts. Several interesting and unusual ideas. I notice that most of the ideas are for new negative, and few for new positive power-ups (defensive, or offensive?).

Would it be feasible to make all power-ups optional? Play with or with out them. As many good ones, or as many mean ones as you can pack in. Make it optional, and as I have seen others suggest, post severs for each..?


I am a poor player and do admire the skill and speed it takes to accomplish an effective attack on opponents, and continue to accumulate points.

But, I think the game has everything it needs to stand on its own without anything more than those fickle purple stars.

I guess you could make a server for people who would rather not play with powerups (although powerups do add a unique twist to the game) well since some ppl get mad when others use negative powerups whether its offensive or deffensive a new server might be good for some ppl.
Also, does anybody have any more ideas for positive powerups?

Twister: When used, it summons lots of lightning, rain (which makes the water levels rise) and tornadoes that affect the other players. Of course, that would be a 30-in-1 chance of it appearing :)

Fire Orb: When another orb touches you while your Fire Orb powerup is active, they will be reflected a long way away from you.

Ice Orb: Same as the Fire Orb, but opponents freeze for 5 seconds when they touch you.

Fake Star: When used, places a randomly coloured fake star behind you. Good for tricking newbies! :)

Minefield: When in flight, a trail of mines are left behind you. Anyone who touches these mines will be propelled upwards and will lose 100 points.

Lottery: When used, you will be given a random amount of points (1-49).

Tower: Builds a tower underneath you to get higher up. Don't use it under a platform though! :]

Detonator: Makes all opponents blast into the air straight upwards and won't come down for a random amount of time (1-20 seconds).

Protector: Freezes your orb in a large ice cube for 5 seconds, also freezeing any nearby stars and protecting them from your opponents.

One question Kenneth: for the protector, how would that help u in any way? For the lottery it should be 100-1000 random of 100,200,300,400,500,600,700,800,900, and 1000. Fake star would be a great idea. Minefield would be awesome. U have very good ideas for powerups!!! :-) Also, it would be a good idea for the next version that if u have like a floater or sticky or something, u shouldnt lose it when u get another powerup. Maybe u should have the ability to hold 2 items at once like one offensive powerup and one positive powerup.

Supershot is one of my favorites it just takes a bit of practise, use it to reach the top platform on Glacial Chasm from the lowest dry level or on the twin towers for the red or brown or straight to the top platform. My suggestion for a new power up would be one that shoots through things without bouncing then you could hit multiple stars or through walls.

Why thank you Nightmare! Maybe in the next version, you should be able to combine powerups like having more than one powerup at the same time. Then you can collect loads of Money Shots and "save up your money" ;)

No Gravity: Have no gravity effect on your orb for 10 seconds.

Inverted Gravity: Makes all your opponents fall upwards[i] for 15 seconds.

Sideways Gravity: Makes all your opponents fall [i]randomly leftwards or rightwards
for 10 seconds.

Ghost: Makes all your opponents fly straight through stars like ghosts for 20 seconds

Earthquake: Shakes everything (stars, buildings, terrain, orbz, anything really) at a random richter scale (1-13) for 20 seconds (affects all orbz, even your own)

I'm thinking of more as we speak..........

How do u fall laft or right? Do u mean likea a magnet. Earthquake would be bad for all players so that wouldnt be good. For ghost, u should probably lower it to maybe 10 sec or 5 sec as it is kinda unfair if u can only fly straight thorugh stars.how do u fall upwards?
