Here's a few screenshots illustrating the problem:

@J.G: check the HEAD for the CVS download on that v6.7, but you'll have to re-compile the core v2.5b scripts for backwards kernel compatibility on newer PAL systems with the 2.2 voltage bauds (unless you WANT your vertical mesh to look like crap!). also, the phase variance on the neuroelectric iso-pulse regulator shouldn't be higher than 35-45 terradynes or you risk losing your DIF object dispersion fields. just as a side note, I've seen it as high as 49 or even 50, but I really wouldn't go there if I were you. good luck.

It depends on how many objects you want on screen at once. If your doing a first person shooter you can get away with 3-4k as long as you don't have more than about 4-6 items on screen.
Vehicles can usually be quite low poly, u can do a good tank in 1500 if you think about how you do it. If you've got areas where you've got lots of monsters etc, aim for 1.5-2k polys for the monsters or NPCs.
A rough guide is 20k polys in a frame, but remember your interiors eat into that as well.

He's left a long cold trail in hyperspace, and I have all these neat vehicles we're going to use in a mod for Unreal Tournament. (not 2k4, but UT... tanks, flying things you can hover in, boats, cars, etc) I'd really like to repay a favor and share this journey I'm on with him.
I'm just following him around posting in places I've seen that he's posted, hoping he'll reply so I don't have to actually cough up money for a stamp to send him a letter to his house in Texas.
(oh, man, modelling in 3d is tough. I can make like this really neat sphere, then mess it up. That's about it. But I'm trying, so that's a start)

It would be nice if I could find my old friend Britton aka Zencoder. He's left a long cold trail in hyperspace, and I have all these neat vehicles we're going to use in a mod for Unreal Tournament.
