Hello TLK community!

Synapse Gaming is planning on releasing the TLK Shaman demo featured at IGC very soon and we're providing the TLK community with a sneak peek.

The demo, which was produced by Synapse Gaming and features TLK technology, also features artwork by Christophe Canon and music by Ajari Wilson.

We're looking for your feedback and impressions of the demo, so please let us know what you think, and if you run into any problems please report them. :)

1) Pressing next button at end of cave does nothing
2) using quit() to exit from the console will crash the app
3) I would also allow ppl to click thru the early screens instead of having to wait for them to itterate.

Still looks great though!!!

I agree with all of the above. And that it looks great!

Plus, it's not clear that you need to hit ESC at the end to get out of it.

Hey guys, awesome feedback thanks!

I'll make the final Next click pop-up the exit dialog, does that sound cool? I didn't want Next to just end the demo without warning, but I definitely see how the end is not clear.

Again thanks for the feedback!

Will there be a linux demo of this?

Just wanted to say; wonderful demonstration!

Except the "End Game" dialog box having non-centered/left aligned text, and the above suggested, I can't spot anything I would like to see changed.

@John: I think that would work fine. Nice work, as usual.

I had high hopes for this one! And I am far from dissapointed, as it truly is awesome.

The Wind Waker comparision is inevitable.

I just think there should be an effect on the tip of the shaman's staff. Because the light popping on is a tad harsh...it demonstrates the mounted lights perfectly...but yknow...you wanted comments!!!!!

Overall I think it's really, really awesome, and would convince anyone to buy the TLK, as if they needed more reasons...Makes me almost want to buy it again :)

Congrats guys.

It looks great John.
As others have mentioned, the Next button at the end should perhaps change to Exit or end or... something.

Very impressive. I have to dive into my copy in the next few weeks or so.

Cheers and well done!

Very cool demo! I've been looking forward to this since IGC. The projected light textures looked awesome and the music worked great with the lighting.

What sort of light or lights were mounted to the staff? I noticed it illuminated the floor, walls, etc as well as the character.

Anyway, great job on the demo.

Hi Kerry,

That's a dynamic TLK light (in the Light Editor un-check the Static option). I used the light texture 'lightFalloffMono' that comes with TGE/TLK as the flare, and animated the intensity (using the Animation tab of the Light Editor) ever so slightly to provide the glow effect. Oh and I used the 'Near Linear' lighting model - it provided a nicer glow on the player's face as the staff passes in front of it.

Looks good. It did crash upon exit on Windows.

Oh yeah, crashed here too when exiting. Forgot about that one.

Ok, I updated the demos based on all of your suggestions:

-Hitting 'Next' at the final waypoint pops up the exit dialog box.
-Fixed the font justification of the exit dialog box.
-Made the mounted light transition softer (mainly noticeable when it switches off).

Great work - keep them coming!

I didn't have any crashing problems, but the "next" at the end was strange. Popping up the dialog should take care of it, or just change it to read "Exit" instead of "Next". I didn't try the 'quit()' in the console. I just hit "esc" which popped up the exit dialog - no crash for me. Maybe it's only from typing quit in the console?

I love the shot of the shaman walking down the dark hallway, lit only by his staff - that was a great effect :)

When I hit ESC, the console came up, and it didn't exit. I had to ALT+F4 to get out of it, and then I got a "encountered a problem and needs to close" error.

Edit: I guess the .zip file was updated, it appears that now the final "Next" brings up a closing dialogue box, no crash or anything. Tilde activates console, ESC works fine.

Music? I didn't even realize there was supposed to be music.

I didn't get any sound on the Mac version. Tried it on two machines running 10.4.5 with OpenAL 1.2. I don't seem to have any problems with sound with other Torque demos...
