by Steven B · in Torque Game Engine · 06/17/2006 (11:56 am) · 17 replies

Anybody here heard from leadwerks.
They are not answering emails.
I made a purchase 3 days ago and
and haven't heard anything.
Let me know if any of you had
similar problems and what happened.

Thanks

Steve

No he hasn't answered on the forums for a few days. He was still trying to get his work computer back on the internet. He just moved.

***WARNING*** Do not use 3DWS 5.47... it does not work for Torque as it is supposed to. The last best version that work for Torque was 5.43!

Steven, IIRC, you should be able to download the trial version and use your license key to unlock it until your CD arrives.

Hi Steven,

I bought 3DWS some week ago and it took him (josh) several days to deliver the key to me.
I haven't got replies on other questions I've sent per e-mail after I got the key.

I'm guessing this is because the move that Mark mensions above

The site still says:

"Purchase
We are presently relocating our office. We endeavor to process all orders within 48 hours."

Cheers,
Johan

Mark:
What's the problem with 5.47? I'm using it, as I don't have the 5.43 release.

I've noticed that lights crashes the map2dif, but I wasn't sure if that was 3DWS.

And I've had some problems with maps importing them in to my custom build
TGE, I though it was because of me because the DIF works in a HEAD build.

Can this problems be easiely spotted in the map-file?

The problems we are having with 5.47 is:
1.) When you import .map file from content pack there is no UV's. - texture coordinate issue

2.) not exporting .dif

We have two copies with two different problems. The main problem is all the interiors made with the one copy that does not export, can not be opened with an older version. That means we have several hundred of hours in limbo and if not fixed...will be lost.

He is aware of both issues and has said he has them fixed. It has been 45 days and no updates as of yet. He has not commented in the 3DWS Torque forum for several weeks... but has in his other forums.

If you go the forum you can read about it.

*** He is aware and acknowledge these two bugs. But he has left the 5.47 version on his download page. Several people have recently purchased it and are asking for older versions that work. The last version that worked properly with Torque was 5.43.

There has not been a version that works fully with torque yet! 5.43 had texture rotation problems. I purchased the program last October as an early adopter. The promise was that the final version would work with Torque. I believe the CD came with version 5.43. I gave up on the program until he gets it straight, there are plenty of other things that I can do in the mean time.

Thanks Mark and Afrim.

I've experienced the export problem but work around it by manually exporting a map-file and manually run the "map2dif".

5.43 seems to work finr for me with Torque. but 5.47, there supose to be a patch that allows you to compile and run directly with torque rather then port then add in the torque editor.

I believe this is the tutorial on how to do just this thing. not sure tho. havnt got into it. just sticking with 5.43.

I tried to get it to work with this guys stuff

www.garagegames.com/blogs/31574/9391

Either I don't get anything in the output file or I get an error.
maybe someone with some more experience can get it to work.

I also don't understand why the textures that came with
5.47 are Microsoft Set Up file .stf

I don't know if that is the reason for this fellows program is not
working.

We just got done testing two copies and all the problems of version 5.47 seem to be fixed on 5.48. Test we performed where:
1.) import .map file from content packs, export .dif
2.) ver 5.47 .3dw files opened in ver 5.48, export to .dif
3.) created interior in 3DWS and exported.

You have to copy your textures into the Materials folder so can texture your interiors, they will automatically export with your .map file.
Run map exported as it is supposed to in all test. This is a great relief as we had several hundred hours of interiors in limbo.

I haven't been very impressed with them lately. It seems that Josh is really focusing on his 3D engine. I wish that I would have just waited for Constructor. Oh well, I am going to buy Constructor anyway and put 3DWS into the microwave. ;)
