Cannot connect to L3DT Server

by Neo Binedell · in Torque Game Engine Advanced · 02/15/2007 (4:50 pm) · 5 replies

I have not been able to connect to the www.bundysoft.com/L3DT/ for several months.
Can anyone else connect to it?

Yeah no problem here.

Perhaps you have a firewall or something else that blocks it? (zone alarm with security stuff enabled)
Or you ISP does not allow connection to that or your ISPs DNS has problems (would not assume so)

Or do you sit behind a proxy?

Because the page has a really strange behavior. If you try to connect through 64.202.163.77/l3dt/ instead of the url, it will actually throw a 403 (access not allowed?)

Nope, no proxy and I've tried switching off firewalls, etc, and still cant ping the server.
In the browser it will actually connect and get "waiting for server", but then just seems to time out.
It must be getting blocked somewhere on route to the server.

Wonder if its got anything to do with the fact that I'm in South Africa...

I suppose it could have something to do with that. I know I've got whole netblocks dropped at my firewall due to large quantities of hacking attempts. These are mostly in Asia and the Middle East, however it is possible that for one reason or another they have firewalled either your part of the world or your ISP.

You could try a public proxy, or probably someone around here could fix you up with a link to their free version at least.

Apache doesn't always work that way. It can be configured to answer to multiple domain names on the same IP address. That would mean that the actual IP address does not necessarily point to the same data as the domain name. ( As far as apache is concerned, anyway )

That's weird. It's working fine for me as well.

@Neo check with your ISP.

It may be a bogon filtering issue. The Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA) maintains a list of IP network numbers which are in use on the Internet. Many sites block IP addresses which are marked as "RESERVED" on that list. The process of blocking those addresses is known as "Bogon Filtering".

Bogon Filters should only be used if they are kept up-to-date, because IANA's list changes regularly.

Check with your ISP, to check about www.bundysoft.com
