All Animation is Broke

by XD · in Torque Game Engine · 11/10/2008 (6:05 pm) · 6 replies

I don't know whats wrong, but ALL the animation is broke. I could not fix it at all. So I tried to install a fresh copy of TGE 1.5.2 and I get the same thing over again, so maybe it's a bad release? I did not notice it until a few days ago.

What do you mean by broke? If you've reinstalled TGE and still getting the problem, it seems like it'sthe animations themselves that are causing the problem.

They don't play, even the orc animations.

You said you didn't notice it before - what was the last change you made? Are you getting error messages in the console?

Rename the old directory.
Install it again.
Use a comparison tool like BeyondCompare to see what changed between the two.

I managed to fix it by copying the project to a new folder, pretty weird.

That does sound very weird to correct it by copying the entire Torque installation to another place. Sounds like either your file system partition is corrupted or your hard drive is in beginning stages of failure.

I suggest to do a file system scan, I'm assuming you're using Windows, so try right-clicking on your hard drive in windows explorer and click on Properties. Then click on Tools tab and click Check Now. Check both options for:

Automatically fix file system errors.
Scan for and attempt to recovery of bad sectors.

Click start and if Windows prompts that it cannot scan at this time because its in use and it has scheduled for it to be done upon next reboot, then simply reboot and wait for the system to finish doing the file system check on that drive.

Hopefully that will find any errors and fix them, if no problems are found then something is not right. Depending on if your system is old (or overclocked) then it would be dying of hardware failures. :P
