TGB Top down 2D game..

Hello every
Im trying to make my first game with TGB. I have my first little test level up and running.
My test level contains: A small deserts, dunes (walls), and a jeep.
So far I can control my jeep with the arrow keys and the jeep collides nicely with the walls, and im very happy :D...next step is to add tracks from the car weels to the ground that gradually fades.
It should seem simple enough to make a car leave tracks the fade over time but im a n000b at this so dont really know how to do this. I tried to do it with a particle effects but had no success at all :(.
Any suggestion and/or solutions are greatly appreciated.

I think there is an example of this (using particles I think) in the behaviour playground.
