Plan for Karsten "Clocks" Viese

by Karsten "Clocks" Viese · 04/02/2002 (4:38 am) · 2 comments

After the Wall (AtW) have entered the map building phase.

The team have settled with 12 official maps to be included in the final release of AtW.

These 12 maps will be divided over 3 different gametypes:

Conquer and Hold (CnH)
Capture the City (CtC)
Rush to Victory (RtV)

The list of maps will be covering real WW2 battles and have been selected from a very long list of battles.
They have been selected based on how they will play both as gametypes and on a 64 player server.

We have maintained a timeline from D-day, the breaching of the Atlantic Wall and all the way through western Europe to the outskirts of Berlin.

The list:

June 6, 1944: Omaha (CnH) - The Atlantic Wall
June 27, 1944: Cherbourg (CtC) - Opening of the Sea
July 18, 1944: [b]St. L

Just a suggestion on the maps, if you're finding limited resources, you might want to pickup the Close Combat series (2-5) as reference points. Atomic did the grand majority of maps (if not all) based on actual aerial photography of that time frame. If anything, it's good for comparison and inspiration as well. :) Good luck to you guys, looking forward to seeing your work.

Yeah i already got all five games, but I dont want to install them again to get the info :)
although I still have CC5 install and still play it often.

The booklets themselves dont offer much help.

But we got already found tons of refs. of the internet in the last 24 hours for the 3 initial maps.
