pureLIGHT is a static lighting tool with a unique time saving workflow. Users can create incredibly beautiful lighting for any platform that Torque 3D supports. Our unique algorithms and easy to use tools provide incredible lighting for inexperienced users, but the depth and flexibility that experienced users demand. pureLIGHT is a stable and efficient application that has been used in a production environment for over 2 years.

pureLIGHT supports modern Windows platforms with both 32 and 64 bit lighting engines as well as multi-core support. Because of the power of the pureLIGHT toolset it’s easy to create lightmaps for any platform Torque 3D supports from a fully loaded PC with a top of the line video card to a handheld.

pureLIGHT is developed by an independent developer and we understand the challenges that come with developing in smaller environments. We provide email and forum support from our developers who know our software best and have been using it in a production environment for over 2 years. pureLIGHT Technologies has also created a suite of video tutorials to help users make the most of the pureLIGHT suite of tools. The pureLIGHT system is a revolutionary static lighting system based on a real time preview system with iterative “baking”. This means users can see what their lighting set up will look like incredibly quickly instead of waiting for hours like competing products. Users can fly around the real time preview window and watch the lighting as it progresses. The process can be stopped and changes made at any time. After changes are made only the meshes affected by that change need to be “baked” again. This means that not only can users design better lighting, they can do it in less time.

pureLIGHT supports any 3D application that exports in .ASE or Collada formats.

Flexible System Support

pureLIGHT supports a wide range of systems and will take advantage of the power users have available. From a single core laptop to a dual CPU quad core system, pureLIGHT will maximize the processing power available. pureLIGHT also allows users to limit the core usage if they wish to render lighting in the background while performing other tasks.

File Format Support

pureLIGHT will process lighting from any application that support Collada or .ASE. This includes 3D Studio Max, Maya, XSI, Blender, etc.

Automatic Unwrapping

preLIGHT is a powerful part of the pureLIGHT toolset. preLIGHT allows users to choose from a variety of automatic unwrapping options. The vast majority of meshes can be unwrapped quickly and efficiently with the preLIGHT tool. preLIGHT also supports manual unwrapping for special cases. Lightmap and texel size are all managed within preLIGHT to give the most efficient lightmap use possible.

Create Realistic or Artistic Lighting

pureLIGHT’s proprietary lighting system provides both direct and indirect lighting. Default settings provide amazing results, but more experienced users can dive into advanced settings to adjust filtering, coloring, bounces and many more settings for ultimate control. pureLIGHT supports ambient, cone and spot lights. pureLIGHT also supports vertex lighting with sub surface scattering as well as object lights that can project textures onto other surfaces. With the variety of tools at your disposal pureLIGHT can create super realistic lighting or something fantastically abstract.

Mutliple PC Support and Modules

pureLIGHT allows users to break up scenes into pieces so that the pieces can be baked on multiple PCs. The results can be merged together all the while maintain consistent lighting for the entire scene. The pureLIGHT Module system also allows users to set up multiple lighting and mesh options in the same scene. Users could “bake” a day and a night scene at the same time by only changing the lighting settings.

Platform Support

pureLIGHT content is platform independent. As long as Torque 3D supports a system users will be able to tailor their output for that platform.
Hardware
  • 2 GB of RAM for pureLIGHT 32, and 4 GB for pureLIGHT 64. (8+ is recommended)
  • 2.5 GHz CPU or higher (quad core recommended, more cores = faster baking)
  • 512 Mb Shader Model 3 video card (ATI / NVIDIA). Video memory must be dedicated to the card (shared laptop memory is not supported)
  • At least 2 GB free hard-drive space per large scene
Software
Software requirements are:
  • Windows XP or Vista (Vista x64 recommended)
  • 64 bit operating system required for 64 bit pureLIGHT
  • March 2009 DirectX Runtime
  • Microsoft .Net 3.5 SP1
  • Visual C++ 9 SP1 or 2008 SP1 Runtime (provided with installer)
